Our Style of Karate is Shotokan; this is the Japanese Style founded by the Great Grand Master Gichin Funakoshi.

We also teach Jiu Jitsu in the style of Soke Richard P. Baillargeon; the style of Goshin Budo Jiu Jitsu
This style was founded by Master Balillargeon's Sensei, Soke Shogo Kuniba, Goshin-Budo later became the style Goshin-Do.

Soke Baillargeon or Little Soke as he liked being called was the founder of our old union, the NationalKarate & Jiu Jitsu Union

Soke was a great teacher of Jiu Jitsu and Weapons, he also held a master degree in Pakistani weapons, when he died February 14th 1989, we had to leave the N.K.J.U.; it just wasn't the same without Soke. He was a great master and is sorely missed by our karate school.

The Bushido Karate Schools has been in existance since founded by Shihan Fredrick Storaska in 1963, in 1968 the school was passed on to Armondo (Ace) Casaldi. The school presently exist under Wade Casaldi.

We are also affiliated with the Toku Kai International Karate Union
of which, Shihan Edgar Stiltner Jr. is the President.

Update!

As of November 10th 2008 Joseph (Joey) Jeanguenat has earned his green belt Yon-Kyu. Joey has been with me for 5 years starting in February 2nd 2004. I remember that day, his mother Chris came into my class with him and asked if I would teach him, she told me he is 10. I said I am sorry I train no one under 12 but I might make an exception for him if he is well behaved and will listen and not act out. She assured me that he would listen and pay attention, he would not get bored and act out. I gave him a trial class and to this day I believe it was the best decision I ever made!
Joey has been an absolute joy to teach, he listens intently with full focus on what is being taught. He always tries his best and if he starts slacking, it only takes a small reminder and then he is right back on target. I could not have asked for a more dedicated student than Joey, he has stuck with me through thick and thin through the years. When I decided to leave the YMCA and just open a small private dojo he stayed with me. When many other students came and left he was still there every time. His attention to detail and how much he practices to get everything as perfect as he can at all times reminds me of myself. I always told him how we never had to practice for tournaments because we always practiced to be our best at all times, those words stuck with him, "never slack, always be your best."
Sadly Joey will be leaving me and the Bushido Karate Schools for a new venture. He and his family will be moving to Virginia. His father, Jeff has had his job moved to Virginia.
Joey I am very proud of you and I wish you the very best of luck and hope you find a good school in Virginia to continue your training, you will be sorely missed.

Joey and Sensei Wade

A little history about our school.

Shihan Frederic Storaska founded the Bushido Karate School in the year 1963; the first school was located in North Carolina. Shihan Storaska started teaching in Pennsylvania when he came here to teach Rape and Assault Prevention at the colleges.

An old Black Belt magzine blurb on Shihan Storaska

Frederic Storaska is a senior at North Carolina State University, majoring in psychology. The 22yearold bachelor was born in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, and attended high school there. He is the head instructor and president of Bushido Karate Schools, Inc. in North Carolina. He also instructs the Wilmington Police Department. He is ranked 1stDan Black Belt in karate (1963) and 3rdKyu Brown Belt in jujutsu (1962.)

(Frederic Storaska is the Author of "HOW TO SAY NO TO A RAPIST AND SURVIVE")

At one time there were three Bushido Karate Schools that came from Shihan Storaska's original Bushido Karate School; one operated by then Sensei Ace Casaldi in Berwick, PA, one by Sensei Joe Storaska in Bloomsburg, PA, and one by Sensei Bill Miller in Penn State, PA.
Ours in Berwick still stands to this day and continues to represent the good standing tradition of the original Bushido Karate School.
